The First 1,000 Days
Changing the Clinical Destination of Our Youth
Amy Rawls, MS, RD, LD, FMNS, CGN
The first 1,000 days after birth represent a critical window for gut microbiome development, which is essential for immune system maturation and overall health. And yet despite dramatic improvements in survival, nutrition, and education over recent decades, today's children face an uncertain future with chronic pediatric diseases arising from early-life immune insult and postnatal immune dysfunction as the most prevalent health challenges for children.
Part 2 of our pediatric series is a discussion on how maintaining a healthy gut microbiome in pregnancy and infancy is important for long term health and how Transformation's new Thrive in 63 for Kids program can help children "Thrive" in a metabolical world.
