The Digestive System and Men's Health
Amy Rawls, MS, RD, LD, CGN, FMNS
Men are different from women in all kinds of ways, including their nutritional needs. Just as women need particular nutrients during pregnancy or for protection from breast cancer, men need nutrients that can help them maintain muscle mass, manage hormones, prevent prostate cancer, and more. However, many foods that tend to be favorites among men are not the best choices for good health.
As you age, everything from your brain to your metabolism to your sex drive slows down. Your body is constantly changing over time, so the food you put on your plate should change with it. With prevention being key, diet is where one must always start in the journey to achieve optimal health. A healthy diet and proper digestion can prevent many of the diseases compromising men’s health today while also enhancing performance, from the board room to the bedroom.
While we are all human, the way each sex goes about managing their health is unique. It is well known that men have shorter life expectancy than women and are more likely to die from preventable disease than women. Is this because women are more likely to visit their PCP and take more preventative action when it comes to their health?
In this webinar Transformation’s Director of Technical Services discusses the role of nutrition and enzyme therapy in preventative care for the most common health threats amongst males. Special focus will be placed on understanding the importance of a healthy digestive system for men’s health.
