Working with Picky Eaters
Brenna Thompson, MS, RD, LDN
How many times have you heard "my kid is such a picky eater"? Do you work with families who are preparing 2-4 different dishes for one meal to appease each person at the table? Or maybe this describes your family! Perhaps you think that kids will simply eat when they get hungry enough.
At least 50% of kids go through periods of picky eating. But some will fall into the extreme classification of ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) which includes malnutrition, stunted growth, changes in neurotypical behavior, and an increased risk for other eating disorders in the future.
In this webinar, Integrative Nutritionist Brenna Thompson of Stepping Stone Clinic explains prevention and treatment of long term picky eating and how to know when to encourage parents to seek help for their child's eating challenges.

Brenna Thompson, MS, RD, LDN, is a registered and licensed dietitian with a Master's Degree in Applied Nutrition. After completing her Dietetic Internship at West Virginia University Hospital, Breanna worked for Phoebe Sumter Memorial Hospital in Americus, GA, where she helped run the outpatient diabetes center and later developed the employee wellness dietitian position. She then went on to work at a Minnesota based weight and wellness clinic for 6 years before joining the Stepping Stone Clinic team in 2018 where she focuses on integrating nutrition and supplementation to support mental health for both kids and adults. She is passionate about teaching people how foods interact with their body and helping patients learn how what they eat affects how they feel. Brenna believes no one eating style is right for every person — what works for some doesn't work for others. She encourages patients to make changes they can stick with and supports their goals.
